HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR GENERAL
IN COUNCIL.
Whereas by paragraph (b) of sub-section 3 of the
First section of the Act to amend the Steamboat Inspection Act
3 Edward VII, chapter 66 (1903) it is provided that when satis-
factory evidence has been produced that any country outside of
Canada has steamboat inspection laws approximately the Steamboat Inspection Laws of Canada, and the steamboats of such countries
have unexpired certificates of inspection issued by the proper
authorities of such countries, the Governor in Council may
direct that they shall be subjected to no other inspection than may be necessary to satisfy the Canadian inspectors that the
condition of the steamboat, her boilers, machinery and life
saving equipment are as stated in the current certificate of
inspection, but no such certificate of inspection shall be
(inspected) accepted as valid in Canada except when held by
steamboats of a company which has by its laws accorded to steam-
boats of Canada going to and from that country the same privi- lege as is hereby accorded to steamboats of that country.
And whereas the Minister of Marine and Fisheries has
received assurance that the unexpired certificates of inspection
held by Canadian Steamboats plying to and from ports in the United States will be accepted without any further inspection than is necessary to satisfy the United States Inspectors that
the condition of the steamboat, her boilers, machinery and life
saving equipment are as stated in the Canadian current certifi- cate of inspection.
Therefore, the Governor-General in Council is pleased
to order that unexpired certificates issued by the lawful authorities of the United States shall be accepted in Canada, as
